I wrote this song as a theme song for a documentary film that my high school friend, Bob Deyoe was filming in 2012. Garments of Praise Foundation, based in Tucson, AZ, had just gotten started. Ethiopian women had been forced to Eastleigh, Kenya due to tribal wars in their own regions. Many of their homes were burned and/or families were murdered - and they were often sold as sex slaves. After they escaped to Nairobi, they lived in the slums, but were just grateful to be alive. One woman, Ilowee Owens, after hearing their stories, took 12 sewing machines to these desperate refugees, & soon lifted them out of poverty by giving them training and hope in their once hopeless futures. Garments of praise foundation was born! Soon, they expanded their job-kills training program into bead making and other crafts, and eventually a whole training institute was established. This included the Shalom Learning Center for Children. It's pretty amazing what God can do when one person answers his call! I hope you enjoy "God of Our Hope"!
